For the summer of 2020, Marissa was one of the many talented artists who participated in the DeclarASIAN Arts Initiative.

Marissa's pieces surrounded the importance of Filipino American History in the context of American History and activism.

HELLO ME: UNPACKING AND DECOLONIZING MY JOURNEY AND MIND

For Marissa's senior thesis, she created a collection of visuals stories that retells and unpacks her experiences as a low-income queer Filipina American.

For her outstanding use of storytelling and unique voice, Marissa was awarded the Anique Ashraf Art Prize.
